04 — Exam

TOEFL iBT prep.

Academic English, favoured by North American universities.

What it’s for
English proficiency, most commonly for North American universities.
Who it’s for
Students applying where TOEFL is preferred, or who read and write more comfortably than they speak.

What it is

TOEFL asks you to read something, hear something, then say or write how the two relate. That integrated format is why strong English speakers can still underperform: the exam is testing note-taking and synthesis as much as language.

Format

How the paper is built.

Reading
Academic passages with question sets.
Listening
Lectures and campus conversations.
Speaking
Independent and integrated tasks, recorded.
Writing
An integrated task plus an academic discussion response.

How we prep it

The parts of TOEFL iBT that actually move a score.

  1. 01

    Note-taking as a skill

A repeatable shorthand for lectures — the single highest-leverage TOEFL habit and the one nobody practises.

  2. 02

Templates that do not sound like templates

Structures for the speaking tasks that hold up under a 45-second clock without going robotic.

  3. 03

    Scored mocks

Full-length attempts marked against the official rubric with a rescoring plan.
